Information about the scientific archive
The fund of the scientific archive of the RGP at the PHV "Gylym Ordasy" stores documents related to the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its scientific institutions; they are kept in the fund of the scientific archive department of the "Gylym Ordasy" of the Science Comitee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The scientific archive "Gylym Ordasy" carries out the important mission of preserving the intellectual heritage of several generations of outstanding scientists. Its rich archival collections concentrate materials reflecting the history of the formation and development of domestic science, which is inextricably linked with the names of prominent figures in Kazakhstani academic science. Here, documents on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and its research institutions are collected, with a chronology that begins in 1932.
The archive itself was established in 1946 as a structural unit of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, with the purpose of creating and ensuring the preservation of archival documents. Today, 146 collections, of which 56 are of personal origin, 92 are organizational, and 1 is a photo collection. The rarest materials, a significant portion of which have no copies and are unique, are of exceptional importance not only for the scientific community but also for the state as a whole.
In accordance with its scope of activities, the archive stores: personal files of former employees of the central office of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its predecessors for the years 1936-1996; documents of the governing bodies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan; documents of the central office of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; administrative documentation; scientific and technical documentation; research documentation; dissertations and personal origin documents.
As is known, the first composition of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan included prominent figures of science, technology, and culture of Kazakhstan – 14 academicians and 16 corresponding members. At the first general meeting, the president of the academy was elected to be the eminent geologist and great organizer of science, Kanysh Satpayev. Today, the personal files of this "golden" composition of the academy are kept in the archive funds.
In addition, this collection includes scientific works, biographical documents, manuscripts, letters, and photographs of figures in science and culture, leading scholars, full members and corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR: historians – E.B. Bekmakhanova, G.F. Dakhsheliger, T.E. Eleuova, A.N. Nusupekov, S.N. Pokrovsky; philologists – N.T. Sauranbayeva, M.S. Silchenko; economists – G.Ch. Chulanov, A.K. Kuvanyshev, S.B. Baishev; archaeologists – G.I. Patsevich, Kh.A. Alpyssbaev; chemists – A.B. Bekturov, M.I. Goryaev; botanists – V.P. Mikhailova; geologists – Barbót de Marin, V.K. Monich, G.N. Shcherba; mathematicians – T.I. Amanov, K.P. Persidsky; metallurgists – A.L. Tsept, V.D. Ponomarev, M.A. Sokolov; astronomer – G.A. Tikhov; soil scientist – A.I. Bessonov, and others.
